When a young Guilherme Paulus joined Casa Faro Turismo, no one would have believed that he would become the man that was going to be called the ‘Most Powerful Man in Brazilian Tourism’. His work with Casa Faro Turismo only lasted a year as he started CVC Brasil Operadora e Agencia de Viagens S.A., a joint venture he started with Brazilian legislator Carlos Vicente Cerchiari.
Even though Cerchiari would pull out of the partnership, Guilherme Paulus would take CVC to unthinkable heights over the next forty years, making it the largest tour operator in the Latin American region. Starting with only one outlet in Santo Andre, CVC would grow to have outlets at over 400 malls, 140 hypermarkets and many other locations all over the country. He has always had a strong business mind, but what’s equally impressive is his drive for philanthropy and his commitment to his nation. CVC follows his mindset and has been a constant supporter of programs that aim to help the underprivileged youth find a career in Tourism and Hospitality.
Guilherme Paulus was quick to realize the important tourism and hospitality played in a country’s advancement and started the GJP Group of Hotels and Resorts, growing it to have several locations across the world and at the same time providing employment for more than 2,000 people. His ever active business mind took an airline that was struggling with only one plane in the fleet, made it the 3rd largest domestic airliner in the country before he sold it with a fleet of 20 planes.
Guilherme Paulus recognizes that Brazil is changing, and a changing nation brings with it its own new challenges and demands. He realized that the population was no longer happy with bare necessities and looked toward a higher standard of living. His new arm of the GJP Group, GJP Constructions looks to step in and provide condominiums and villas that the changing population is now demanding.
His patriotism and experience in the tourism sector made him the perfect member of the country’s board of tourism, under the government of Brazil. His contributions to Brazil and her people continue to pave the way for the future.
